Mehdi is a Houston-based industrial designer and 2022 graduate of the Gerald D. Hines College of Design. Currently pursuing his Master of Industrial Design, he focuses on wearable systems that integrate seamlessly with the human body, combining form, function, and movement with a passion for emerging tools and user-centered design.
Mohammadmehdi Mortazavi is a Houston-based industrial designer specializing in human-centered wearable technology. He holds a B.S. in Industrial Design from the University of Houston, graduating with honors, and is currently pursuing his Master of Industrial Design at the Gerald D. Hines College of Architecture and Design. His work focuses on designing wearable systems that respond to the human body, integrating ergonomics, movement, and emerging technology.
With experience spanning the full design process, from user research and concept development to prototyping and pilot testing, he has worked on projects ranging from assistive exosuits for seniors to occupational support devices. His previous roles include Co-Founder and CTO of ExoBraced, where he led the development of ExoBak, the lightest occupational passive exoskeleton on the market, and Co-Founder of Misfit Design Studio, Houston’s only industrial design consultancy.
Mehdi’s work has earned multiple awards, including Fan Favorite at WeaRAcon 2021 and several first-place wins in innovation and business competitions. He was a member of ASTM International’s F48 Committee on Exoskeletons and serves as the President of IDSA Houston.
